The better way to view the BBC iPlayer on your Wii.
For the past week I have been busy working on an alternative method for viewing the BBC iPlayer on the Wii. While the BBC iPlayer website already works on the Wii I felt it’s current design was not suitable for the small resolution of Opera Wii, making navigation difficult and text unreadable.
Yet more black and white photographs for my current project, this time though experimenting with my Holga and medium format film.
All photographs in this post were taken using a Holga CFN (plastic lens) camera and Ilford Delta 400 120mm film.
They were taken in the same place (and surrounding area) as the pictures in the post below, albeit on a sunnier day.
The main advantage medium format film has over regular 35mm is a much larger resolution. When coupled with a Holga camera you get a desirable soft focus around the edges along with heavy vignetting.
My latest black and white photography project has now been completed. A selection of the best prints have been stored for display in a portfolio box.
Each photograph was printed by hand using traditional darkroom techniques, over the course of several weeks.
Some of the hand printed images consist of photos from earlier posts. I’ll try to get some of the newer images scanned at some point to display online.
I’m currently working on the next photography project and should have some photos to show soon.

Cube was designed and developed in 2005, originally exhibited at the conTemporary Gallery in Brighton before later appearing at FutureSonic, Optronica and Big Blip festivals.
Myself and three other individuals worked together on ‘Cube‘ (John Murdoch, Glen Lashley and Simon Feasey) with the help of Bill Bigge from the University of Sussex Autonomous Systems Lab.
The idea behind Cube was to take the typical user-to-art interaction scenario and turn it on its head so the art would be interacting with you. On approach Cube would appear to be a stationary black box sitting quietly in the gallery space, as you draw closer Cube will make a cognitive decision on whether it ‘likes you’ or ‘dislikes you’ based on your appearance. Once its mind is made up, it will either try its best to move away or follow you around the room.
As part of a larger photography project I am working on I spent a day rattling off a couple of b&w films, trying out a few ideas. These images were from a roll of Ilford XP2 and processed at a local hour lab, unfortunately they came out slightly sepia.

Field recording is the technique for capturing the audible illustration of an environment, produced outside of a recording studio. A “field recording” is the actual recording that is produced.
Field recording, sometimes called Phonography, was originally employed as a documentary adjunct to research work in the field, but has since also found use as evocative art in itself.
